Why Bernt picked this
September salmon is at its best and the oven does every bit of the work — you brush, slide the pan in, and have twenty minutes to set the table instead of stirring. It's a real dinner that forgives a beginner completely.
Ingredients
Main
- 2 salmon fillets, skin-onabout 170 g each, center-cut if possible; pat dry before glazing
Vegetables
- 250 g green beans, trimmedharicot verts or regular; snap off the stem ends
Pantry
- 2 tbsp olive oildivided between beans and glaze
Glaze
- 1½ tbsp whole-grain or Dijon mustard
- 1½ tbsp honey
- 1 clove garlic, mincedor 1/2 tsp garlic powder if you want zero chopping
Finishing
- 1 lemoncut into wedges for serving
Pantry
- salt and black pepperto season everything
Steps
- Heat the oven to 220°C (200°C fan) with the rack in the middle. While it heats, trim the green beans, pat the salmon dry, and stir together the mustard, honey, garlic, and 1 tbsp of the olive oil in a small bowl with a pinch of salt. That's all the prep there is — no chopping board gymnastics required.
- Toss the green beans on a rimmed baking sheet with the remaining 1 tbsp olive oil, a good pinch of salt, and a few grinds of pepper. Push them to one side of the pan, then lay the salmon fillets on the other side, skin-side down. Brush the tops generously with the honey-mustard glaze, using it all.
- Roast for 10–12 minutes, until the salmon flakes easily when you nudge the thickest part with a fork and the beans are blistered in spots. No stirring, no flipping — just leave the pan alone and let the oven work.
- Squeeze a lemon wedge over everything and serve straight from the pan, beans alongside the salmon.
How this recipe was made
Bernt, the recipe app, wrote this for an invented cook — two new parents with twenty minutes and one free hand — working from their skill level, household size, budget and dietary needs. It was generated for this public collection, not taken from anyone's account, and no person has tested it in a kitchen. Use your own judgment on doneness and allergens. Published September 17, 2026.
